In this role, you’ll provide legal advice and related services in the key functional areas of commercial contracting, procurement, partnering, supply chain, marketing and consumer law, contributing to a high performing, customer-focused legal team.

This is a 12-month max term opportunity based in Gadigal Country (Sydney) or Naarm (Melbourne).

What You'll Do 

• Establishing deep and effective relationships with business partners and peers (described below) to understand their business drivers and strategic priorities.
• Providing high quality, strategic, pragmatic and commercially focused legal and governance advice to business partners and peers.
• Advising IAG, including monitoring legislative/regulatory changes and market best practice, in key functional areas (commercial contracting, procurement, partnering, supply chain, marketing and consumer law), proactively identifying and addressing issues which may impact strategy, operational issues or business processes.
• Project managing legal aspects of new projects and initiatives as directed, leveraging technology and outsourced service providers (such as external firms and alternative legal service providers) as appropriate.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the legal team’s operating model and ways of working through the effective use of technology, including identifying, adopting and championing AI-enabled solutions that enhance legal service delivery.

What You'll Bring 

• Bachelor of Laws or equivalent.
• Qualified as a legal practitioner or admitted to appropriate Australian professional body.
• Legal practice experience of 3-5 years.
• Legal practice experience in the following functional areas: commercial contracting, procurement, partnering, supply chain, marketing and consumer law.
• Ability to triage multiple priorities and work autonomously in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Well-developed legal skills (e.g. advisory, contract drafting, negotiation).
• Well-developed customer service and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong communication, decision making and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
