Construction Manager

About the Role:
Reporting to the Project Director, the Construction Manager will lead the upcoming construction of an iron ore project in Western Australia. This role is responsible for overseeing all onsite activity throughout early works and ensuring the project is ready for the main construction phase. Working on a FIFO basis, the Construction Manager will coordinate subcontractors, manage site resources, maintain strong safety and environmental compliance, and ensure work is delivered productively, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

• Oversee and manage all on-site activities during the projects early works and readiness for the construction.
• Coordinate and manage subcontractors, vendors, and site labour to ensure that all work is performed productively, efficiently and meets project timelines.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards to protect workers, equipment, and the environment.
• Ensure all regular safety meetings and site inspections are performed.
• Monitor and adjust the project schedule as necessary to accommodate people resources, delivery of materials, weather conditions, delivery timelines, and unforeseen challenges. Ensure milestones are met for key phases of the project.
• Act as the primary on-site liaison between the Perth Project Team, technical advisors, quality team and subcontractors. Provide weekly and monthly updates on project status, site challenges, and progress.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on exploration and tenement management and communicate technical information effectively. Build positive relationships with regulatory authorities, landowners, and local communities.
• Resolve on-site issues quickly and effectively, including personnel or contractor performance matters, material delivery delays and site access challenges. Ensure project changes are communicated promptly and implemented effectively.
• Maintain thorough and accurate records of project progress, daily logs, safety inspections, and any incidents or delays and submit regular reports to the Project Director and leadership team.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Extensive experience leading large-scale mining construction projects, including the ability to manage work safely and effectively in remote or challenging environments.
• You will be able to fulfil the requirements of the appointed Senior Site Executive (SSE) as per the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022.
• Previous experience as a Quarry Manager, or the ability to be appointed as Site Quarry Manager under the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022, will be highly regarded.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering disciplines, Construction Management or a Trade Certificate obtained in heavy industry, construction or mining.
• Strong leadership skills to effectively manage on-site teams and subcontractors, ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple subcontractors and tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• White Card and valid Driver's licence.
• Ability to work in a Perth based role initially and then move to a FIFO roster during early works. This role will become a full time FIFO position once the project ramps up.
• Flexibility to work as needed to meet project deadlines.
