The Opportunity
We are looking for two Building Surveying Cadets to join our Development Assessment and Compliance Division.
These cadetships allows you to earn a full-time salary while completing approved tertiary studies in Building Surveying. You will be supported by experienced Building Surveyors, gain practical on-the-job experience, and progressively build the technical and professional skills required to work in local government certification and compliance.
These positions provides exposure to a broad range of building surveying activities across residential and commercial development. On completion of the cadetship and qualification, you will be job-ready for future employment as a Building Surveyor.
These opportunities are suited to someone who is currently studying or is committed to enrolling in study, motivated to learn, and interested in a career that balances technical knowledge, field work, regulation, and community outcomes.
As a Building Surveyor Cadet, you will:
About you
Is genuinely interested in building surveying and motivated to commit to both work and study. Whether you are commencing or currently undertaking the Bachelor of Building Surveying and Certification at Central Queensland University, you are keen to build a long term career in a professional and technically focused field. You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and enjoy working as part of a team while also being able to work independently with appropriate guidance. You are reliable, self motivated and take responsibility for your own learning and development. You are willing to learn from experienced professionals, seek and apply feedback, and approach new challenges with a positive attitude. You demonstrate sound judgement, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality when working with information and stakeholders. You have the language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills needed to successfully balance the study and workplace requirem ents of the cadetship. You are organised, able to manage competing priorities and committed to achieving positive outcomes. Most importantly, you have a genuine interest in the built environment, building compliance, legislation and development. You are curious, eager to learn, and motivated to contribute to your local community through a career in building surveying.
