The Opportunity:

Based in our Victoria office at Pakenham, you’ll be teaming up with one of the most innovative design studios in Australia. Leading & delivering projects for global brands. The team use a combination of the latest photographic 3D renderings, animation, virtual reality and AI to deliver big ideas that look to re-shape the future of retail. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to travel, both domestically and internationally, spend time in our China factory and work with the international teams to deliver a variety of projects across both brand and retail divisions.

Responsibilities: 

Reporting to the Creative Director and working within an experienced industrial design team, this role requires a high level of proficiency in Solidworks (concept development via 3DS Max is a bonus), along with a thorough understanding of material specifications and manufacturing techniques. The successful candidate will take creative concepts from the design team and turn them into a full set of sub-assembly drawings and files, ready for production. They will also develop and deliver briefs to the factory covering the costing and development of displays and products.

Key Functions: 

• Working with both the Australian and Chinese design teams, develop and model solutions for retail permanent and temporary POS displays.

• Clearly articulate design intent through drawings & block modelling.

• Provide General Assembly or technical drawings where required.

• Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and cutting lists for production.

• Co-ordinate the development of prototypes with the factory.

• Maintain a structured drawing register and revision control system.

• QC Prototypes provided by the factory and suggest cost efficiencies where appropriate.

• Work within our client’s brand guidelines.

• Assist the sales team with prototype presentations, content for new business pitches and assembly instructions.

Essential Skills / Qualities:

• 2-3 years experience designing within retail POS or exhibition design.

• Proficient working knowledge of Solidworks (Concept Development via 3DS Max is a bonus)

• Understanding of flat-pack design, modular construction, and assembly requirements.

• Proficient knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.

• Good freehand drawing & sketching skills.

• Have a can-do attitude.

• Enjoy working collaboratively.

• Great communication skills.
