Room Leader

About the role

Blossom Preschool is seeking an experienced Room Leader to join our dedicated team in Engadine, NSW. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in creating a nurturing, stimulating and safe learning environment for our preschool children. As Room Leader, you will be responsible for leading and managing a classroom, implementing our educational curriculum, and ensuring the wellbeing and development of all children in your care. This position is integral to our mission of providing high-quality early childhood education and fostering the growth and development of young learners.

Key responsibilities

• Planning, implementing and evaluating age-appropriate learning experiences that support children's physical, cognitive, emotional and social development

• Creating and maintaining a safe, welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and creativity

• Supervising and supporting children during all activities, routines and transitions throughout the day

• Building positive relationships with children, families and staff members

• Communicating regularly with parents and carers about their child's progress, achievements and wellbeing

• Managing classroom resources, materials and equipment in an organised and accessible manner

• Maintaining accurate records, observations and documentation of children's learning and development

• Collaborating with team members to ensure consistent practice and high-quality care across the service

• Supporting and mentoring assistant educators and other team members

• Adhering to all duty of care requirements, health and safety policies, and relevant legislation

• Promoting positive behaviour management strategies and supporting children's emotional regulation

What we're looking for

• Tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent recognised qualification

• Current First Aid and CPR certification appropriate to children

• Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance for NSW

• Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in early childhood settings

• Demonstrated knowledge of current early childhood education frameworks and best practice

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support team members

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, families and colleagues

• Ability to develop and implement engaging educational programming that supports diverse learners

• Sound understanding of child safeguarding, duty of care and compliance requirements

• Flexibility, patience and genuine passion for working with young children

• Organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

• A commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice
