What is The Place?

We’re an growing NDIS-registered, neuroaffirming multidisciplinary practice based in beautiful Highfields, just outside Toowoomba.

Our team includes Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Family Support practitioners, Behaviour Support Practitioners and Allied Health Assistants, supported by a brilliant operations and client experience team.

We work mostly with children, teens, young adults and their families, although our work spans the lifespan.

Our goal is pretty simple:

Help people participate, communicate, connect and live their lives in ways that actually matter to them.

That means therapy doesn’t always happen sitting across a table.

You might be working in one of our therapy rooms, in the gym, outside on the verandah, at a school, in someone’s home, out in the community, running a group, completing an assessment, supporting a regional family or collaborating with another clinician.

We want therapy to feel less like a transaction and more like a village.

If you’re an OT…

Your work might include:

Emotional regulation, sensory processing, executive functioning, play, motor skills, independence, daily living skills, school participation, community access, family routines, functional assessments and helping people build the skills they need for everyday life.

There’s plenty of room to shape your caseload around your experience, clinical interests and where you’d like your career to go.

If you’re a Speech Pathologist…

Your work might include:

Early communication, speech sounds, language, literacy, social communication, AAC, mealtimes and feeding, swallowing, functional communication, parent coaching and helping people communicate and be understood across home, school and community environments.

Again, we’re not interested in forcing clinicians into a cookie-cutter caseload. We want to know what you love, what you’re great at and what you’d like to learn next.

You don’t need to arrive knowing everything.

Actually, we’d prefer you didn’t pretend to.

We value curiosity, reflection and asking questions far more than trying to look like you have it all figured out.

Early-career clinicians are supported with a carefully paced caseload, regular supervision, peer support, opportunities to shadow other clinicians and time to develop their own clinical reasoning and style.

There is space to learn here.

• A recognised Occupational Therapy qualification

• Current AHPRA registration

• An open driver’s licence

• NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one

• An interest in neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based practice

For Speech Pathologists

You’ll need:

• A recognised Speech Pathology qualification

• Eligibility for membership with Speech Pathology Australia

• An open driver’s licence

• NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one

• Working With Children Check/Blue Card where required

• An interest in neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based practice

The bigger picture

The Place is growing.

We’ve recently expanded our services, including becoming an NDIS-registered provider and developing our Positive Behaviour Support offering, and there’s a lot happening behind the scenes as we build the next stage of The Place.

But growth for us isn’t about becoming a giant therapy factory.

We want to build something really good.

A place where clinicians can have meaningful careers.

Where families feel known.

Where multidisciplinary work actually happens.

Where new ideas are encouraged.

Where regional communities can access great support.

And where the people doing the work still have enough energy left to enjoy their lives outside of it.
