CANTEEN ASSISTANT

We are seeking a friendly, reliable and community-minded Canteen Assistant to join our vibrant Woods Cafe team. This is a part-time, fixed-term position until December 2026, supporting the day-to-day operations of the College canteen and delivering high-quality cafe and food services to students, staff, parents and the wider College community.

Working closely with the Woods Manager, the Canteen Assistant plays an important role in promoting healthy food choices, delivering excellent customer service and supporting catering for College events, while upholding Kingswood College values and child safety standards.

• Assisting with the efficient day-to-day operation of The Woods Cafe

• Providing friendly, welcoming and professional service at point of sale

• Processing student lunch orders, including counter service and online systems

• Assisting with food preparation in line with healthy canteen guidelines

• Supporting catering for College events, sporting days and functions

• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness

• Assisting with stock control, ordering, receiving and restocking supplies

• Supporting cash handling and daily reconciliation in line with College procedures

• Assisting with the training and support of volunteers

• Maintaining a positive and respectful environment for students and staff

• Uphold our Child Safety standards and policies at all times 

• Uphold the values and vision of Kingswood College, contributing positively to our community

• Hold a valid Employment Working With Children Check

• Produce a valid National Police Check [or willingness to apply]

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to child safety and student wellbeing

• Have excellent customer service and communication skills

• Be reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team

• Show initiative, flexibility and the ability to remain calm under pressure

• Have strong culinary skills, with experience in baking and preparing homemade food highly regarded

• Be confident taking ownership of daily specials and supporting the Café Manager by stepping into operational responsibilities when required.

• Be able to relate positively to students of all ages

Experience in hospitality, food handling or event catering is desirable, particularly in baked goods, as is a current Safe Food Handling Certificate. First Aid and Anaphylaxis Management training will be highly regarded.
