Located in Perth, our college provides high-quality residential accommodation for up to 94 country high school students aged 11 to 18. As an independent, co-educational facility, we pride ourselves on offering a supportive and structured environment that helps students flourish academically, socially, and personally. Each student enjoys the privacy of their own room and ensuite, with dormitories accommodating 16 to 17 students.

The Boarding House Assistant Manager is responsible for the overall management, administration and day-to-day operation of the residential boarding facility. The role ensures the efficient delivery of accommodation services, coordination of residential operations, supervision of boarding staff, maintenance of facilities, and provision of a safe, secure and well-managed residential environment for boarding residents.

Rotary Residential College provides residential accommodation services for secondary students from regional Western Australia. The Boarding House Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring the boarding facility operates efficiently and in accordance with organisational policies, safety requirements and residential service standards.

The role requires strong operational leadership, staff supervision, administration and residential accommodation management skills to support the effective operation of the boarding house.

Operational Management

• Plan, coordinate and oversee the daily operations of the residential boarding facility.
• Manage accommodation services, room allocations, occupancy levels and resident admissions.
• Ensure boarding facilities are maintained to appropriate residential, hygiene, maintenance and safety standards.
• Coordinate property maintenance, repairs and servicing requirements with contractors and service providers.
• Develop and implement operational procedures to improve residential service delivery and operational efficiency.
• Manage incidents and emergencies in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.

Staff Supervision and Coordination

• Recruit, train, supervise and roster boarding staff, cleaners and support personnel.
• Monitor staff performance and ensure duties are carried out effectively and in accordance with operational requirements.
• Provide leadership, guidance and ongoing support to boarding and operational staff.
• Coordinate staffing requirements to ensure adequate supervision and efficient boarding house operations.

Resident Services and Welfare

• Maintain a safe, supportive and well-managed residential living environment for boarding residents.
• Monitor resident compliance with boarding house policies, accommodation rules and behavioural expectations.
• Respond to resident enquiries, concerns and accommodation-related matters in a professional and timely manner.
• Coordinate resident support services and maintain appropriate duty of care obligations within the residential environment.

Stakeholder Liaison

• Maintain communication with parents, caregivers, schools, contractors and external service providers regarding boarding operations and accommodation matters.
• Respond to enquiries, concerns and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
• Promote positive relationships between the boarding facility, residents, families and the wider community.

Financial and Administrative Management

• Assist in preparing operational budgets and monitoring expenditure.
• Oversee purchasing, stock control and boarding-related administrative functions.
• Maintain accurate records relating to residents, staffing, incidents, maintenance and operational matters.
• Prepare operational and administrative reports for management as required.

Compliance and Safety

• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, residential accommodation standards, child safeguarding obligations and organisational policies.
• Maintain a safe and secure residential environment for residents, staff and visitors.
• Ensure workplace health and safety procedures are implemented and monitored.
• Current First Aid Qualification
• Current National Police Clearance
• Current Working with Children Check

Salary and Benefits

This is a live-in position. The successful applicant will be required to reside in the on-site accommodation provided as part of their employment. The package includes on-site accommodation, with electricity and water utilities included, as well as meals while on duty. The package also includes superannuation in accordance with current legislation, annual leave and personal leave entitlements, opportunities for ongoing professional learning

Salary: $80,000 per annum
