About the role
Drummond Street Services is a not-for-profit, non-denominational agency with over 130 years of delivering innovative services that strengthen families and communities across Victoria. We provide family services, mental health and wellbeing support, relationship counselling, parenting programs, and specialist services that reflect the diversity of the communities we work alongside.
We are committed to creating meaningful change through evidence-informed and trauma-informed practice. Our work is grounded in social justice and inclusion, supporting our teams to deliver services that are responsive to the needs of children, young people, individuals, families, and communities.
Join Drummond Street Services as an LGBTIQA+ Mental Health & Wellbeing Peer Support Worker within the Darebin Mental Health and Wellbeing Service. DS works in partnership with Neami National and Northern Health to deliver an innovative, multidisciplinary service based on a "no wrong door" approach.
Drawing on your own lived experience of mental health challenges, recovery, mental health crisis and/or caring for someone experiencing mental health challenges, you will provide peer support that builds hope, confidence, connection and recovery.
Working as part of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will support LGBTIQA+ consumers through outreach and centre-based support, intake, service promotion, partnership activities and case reviews. You will use your lived experience purposefully and safely to support consumers to explore their own recovery journey, build community connections and strengthen their wellbeing.
To be successful in this role, you must identify as LGBTIQA+ and have lived experience relevant to mental health and recovery.
