Credit Officer

Southern Steel Group is the largest privately-owned steel distributor in Australia. We are currently looking for a customer focused Credit Officer to join our Head Office located in Milperra.

We are looking for a motivated, hands-on team member who has previous credit/collections experience and enjoys being busy. You will manage a large group of accounts and key responsibilities and accountabilities will include reconciliation of accounts, high volume of outgoing collection of due & outstanding debts, daily release of orders and daily banking.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Previous experience in a similar role (steel distribution, manufacturing/related industry is desired);

• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, credit practices and collection regulations;

• Previous experience in Credit Assessment and Credit Analysis

• Credit reporting;

• Understanding of PPSA (Personal Property Security Act)

• An ability to engage and negotiate with internal and external customers

• A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail skills;

• Excellent organisation and great communication skills;

• Ability to multi-task and be adaptable;

• Self-driven to work unsupervised;

• Strong computer skills, excellent knowledge of Excel will be well regarded;

• A Certificate III or IV in Financial Services (Credit Management) will be well regarded

• Membership of the AICM and the attainment of your CCE would be particularly well regarded

• And importantly – a positive attitude and a good sense of humour.
