About the Role:
An exciting opportunity exists for a dedicated and motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy Department at North Canberra Hospital (NCH). Working as part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred care across a range of clinical settings, including acute medical and surgical wards, the Medical Assessment and Planning Unit (MAPU), Neurology, Hospital in the Home (HITH), and Claire Holland House.
Reporting to the Director of Occupational Therapy, you will undertake comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and interventions that support patients to achieve optimal functional outcomes and maximise independence. You will work collaboratively with patients, carers, medical officers, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to deliver evidence-based care that is responsive to individual needs.
The successful applicant will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning and a commitment to evidence-based practice. You will contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of occupational therapy services through participation in quality improvement activities, professional development, and service evaluation initiatives. The role also involves maintaining accurate clinical records and statistical data, while supporting the application of risk management, clinical governance, and workplace safety principles.
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive professional who applies reflective practice and critical thinking to inform sound clinical decision-making. You will be adaptable and responsive in a fast-paced healthcare environment, with the ability to manage competing priorities and adjust to changing service demands. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to build effective working relationships and confidently engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
