Summary:

The Y NT Back2School Program is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Back2School Facilitator to join our team.

Working alongside the Back2School Coordinator, you will deliver engaging learning experiences and build positive relationships with young people aged 14–17 who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from mainstream education. Through positive relationships, practical learning and individualized support, you will help young people reconnect with education and build confidence for their future.

No two days are the same. This is a hands-on role combining classroom learning, practical activities, excursions, guest presenters and relationship-building in a supportive and rewarding environment.

This position is offered as a full-time role; however part-time or flexible working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging educational sessions as part of the Back2School Program.
• Deliver engaging lessons using the established Back2School term plans and resources, adapting activities to meet the individual learning needs and abilities of students.
• Facilitate structured literacy, numeracy, wellbeing, life skills and career readiness sessions.
• Deliver practical, hands-on and project-based learning experiences.
• Complete daily student case notes and maintain accurate records
• Monitor student attendance, engagement and educational progress.
• Communicate with schools, parents/carers and external stakeholders regarding student progress and attendance.
• Support student goal setting, wellbeing and pathways into education, training or employment.
• Support the Back2School Coordinator in the day-to-day delivery and preparation of the program.
• Assist with preparing learning resources and classroom activities.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and model positive behaviour.
• Comply with YMCA policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with young people in education, youth work, community services, training, education support, coaching or similar.
• A Certificate IV in Youth Work, Community Services, Education Support or a related qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
• Teaching qualifications or experience as a Teacher Aide, School Support Officer (SESO) or Education Support Officer are highly regarded but not essential.
• Current NT Ochre Card (or willingness to obtain).
• Current Australian Driver License.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• A current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)

Hours of Work:

• This position is offered as a full-time role; however, part-time or flexible working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
• The core delivery hours of the Back2School Program are Monday to Wednesday during school terms.
• Additional hours may include program planning, administration and YMCA youth program delivery during school holidays.
