People & Culture Advisor

The Opportunity

Shared Services is seeking a People and Culture Advisor to join the team in a permanent full-time capacity.

This is an exciting opportunity for a People and Culture professional who enjoys working across a broad range of HR activities, with a particular focus on industrial and employee relations. As a trusted advisor, you will provide expert guidance and support to leaders and employees, helping to navigate workplace matters and deliver practical, people-focused solutions.

Working closely with the People and Culture Partners, you will support workplace investigations, disciplinary and grievance processes, and provide advice on employment-related matters. You will also contribute to a range of generalist People and Culture activities across the employee lifecycle, ensuring a positive experience for our employees and leaders.

Based in Newcastle West, you'll enjoy working in a modern, newly renovated office featuring an onsite café, while being part of a collaborative and supportive People & Culture team committed to making a difference across the Diocese.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this position is to provide quality advice and guidance to stakeholders across the Diocese alongside the HR Business Partners to add value to organisational operations.

EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA

• Experience in an entry level position in a HR generalist role with exposure to generalist HR matters
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain matters to a broad range of stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to interpret industrial agreements and provide advice to stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills and experience in reporting on key HR metrics to value add
• Experience in managing employee relations matters across the employee lifecycle
• Demonstrated ability to be flexible and meet deadlines in an environment with competing priorities
• Demonstrated ability to use technology to add value to business operations
• Demonstrated resilience and emotional intelligence
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality and discretion
• Experience in delivering and/or developing training on HR matters (Desirable)

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor degree of Human Resources Management (or current enrolment in working towards)
• Current Class C Driver’s Licence
• Working with Children Check
• National Criminal History check clearance
