Social Director

Akcelo is an independent Brand Experience agency delivering powerful brand experiences that people love. We fuse creativity with experience design to solve business problems and generate white-space opportunities for the likes of McDonald’s, PepsiCo, Tinder and TikTok.

We are seeking an influential and strategically minded Social Director to lead social for one of Australia’s biggest brands. This is a leadership role for someone who can set the agenda with clients, drive a high-performing team and ensure social is recognised as a powerful driver of brand relevance, business growth and customer connection.

As the senior social authority on the account, you will shape the long-term social vision, counsel senior client stakeholders and bring an informed point of view on the opportunities, risks and changing role of social. You will be responsible for creating the conditions for exceptional work: setting a clear standard, developing talent, strengthening ways of working and ensuring our social expertise is embedded across creative, strategy, media and customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the social agenda for major client partners, providing authoritative strategic counsel that drives brand relevance, audience connection and business impact
• Build trusted senior client relationships, acting as their advocate within Akcelo while constructively challenging briefs and identifying new opportunities for growth
• Lead, mentor and inspire a high-performing multidisciplinary social team across strategy, creative, community and content production.
• Champion social-first, culturally relevant and creatively ambitious work, ensuring social is embedded from the earliest stages of brand and campaign development
• Turn audience behaviour, social listening and performance data into clear strategic recommendations that influence creative, channel and business decisions
• Establish best-practice social operations, standards and ways of working that enable consistently excellent delivery at pace
• Champion social across Akcelo, raising capability across disciplines and shaping how the agency thinks about culture, creators, content, community and platforms
• Play a leading role in new business, thought leadership, PR, award entries and agency positioning, helping build Akcelo’s reputation as an authority in social

Key Requirements

• 12+ years’ experience in senior social roles, ideally within a creative, social or advertising agency
• Demonstrated experience setting social strategy and leading complex, multi-channel social ecosystems for major brands
• Proven ability to build, lead and develop high-performing teams across a range of social disciplines
• A confident senior client leader, able to build trust, influence decisions and present a clear point of view to executive stakeholders
• Deep knowledge of social platforms, audience behaviour, internet culture, creators, social intelligence and emerging technologies
• Strong strategic and analytical capability, with the ability to turn insight and performance data into compelling commercial and creative recommendations
• Experience partnering with creative, strategy, production, media and account leadership to deliver integrated, social-first work
• A proactive, solutions-oriented leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and raises the standard of the work around them
• Passionate about great work, developing people and growing the influence of social within the agency and industry
