Stormwater Engineer

Council is seeking a motivated and technically capable Stormwater Engineer to support the sustainable management of our stormwater infrastructure, drainage systems, flood information and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) assets.

About the role:

As a Stormwater Civil Engineer, you will support the planning, design and delivery of Council's stormwater infrastructure and flood management programs. The role includes preparing concept designs, cost estimates, business cases and project briefs, assisting with the delivery of stormwater renewal and upgrade projects, and developing practical solutions to drainage and infrastructure issues.

You will provide technical advice on stormwater, drainage, flooding and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) matters, support development assessments, maintain flood and stormwater records, investigate customer enquiries and drainage complaints, and contribute to asset management, compliance and grant funding initiatives. Working closely with the Senior Civil Engineer, you will help deliver sustainable, resilient and community-focused stormwater outcomes.

What you’ll bring to the role:

To be successful in this role, you will have a sound understanding of stormwater engineering principles and a practical approach to problem-solving, combined with strong communication and organisational skills.

Essential Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or equivalent recognised tertiary qualification.

Skills and Experience

• Minimum of three (3) years' relevant industry experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of stormwater infrastructure design, drainage systems, flood management principles and asset management practices.
• Experienced in preparing concept designs, estimates, project briefs and technical documentation for civil infrastructure projects.
• Ability to investigate drainage and flooding issues, stormwater performance matters and recommend practical engineering solutions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare technical reports, customer correspondence and professional advice.
• Well-developed organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while managing competing priorities.

Desirable Experience

• Experience using hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software such as TUFLOW, DRAINS or equivalent.
• Experience with GIS, asset management systems, Civil 3D or similar engineering and mapping software.
• Knowledge of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) assets, maintenance compliance programs and stormwater quality improvement initiatives.
• Experience preparing grant funding applications, business cases and project briefs

Position details:

• Full-Time, 76 hour – 9 day fortnight.
• Annual salary: $108,420 per annum plus superannuation
