Job Description

Job Responsibilities 

Operation of Sewage Treatment Plant

 Collection and laboratory analysis of water samples

 Operation of Sewage Reticulation System

 Monitoring and reporting the status or condition of plant and systems

 Process monitoring and optimisation

 Maintenance activities on all plant equipment and systems as required

 Knowledge of all process, maintenance and operational issues occurring on a day to day basis.

 Responding to and rectifying alarms generated by SCADA

 Troubleshooting problems with plant, equipment and process

 Undertake first-line routine and breakdown maintenance duties as required

 Perform all necessary work activities to ensure a current functional Computerised Maintenance

Management System (CMMS)

 Housekeeping.

 Customer and Public interface.

 Participation in on-call roster and including attendance on Saturdays and Sundays as part of that

roster at the required frequency.

 Attend the plant out of hours as required to ensure the plant is performing satisfactory, and attend

to breakdowns.

 Undertake all company training programs as required.

 Record keeping as required.

 Other initiatives and duties as required by the Plant Manager and/or Service Manager

 Assist in the training and supervision of operators, technical staff, contractors and

administration staff

Qualifications

Education

Tertiary qualifications in an engineering or science discipline or relevant Trade qualifications

Additional Information

Aditional Requirements 

 Experience in the operation and maintenance of water and/or wastewater treatment plants and

reticulation systems desirable.

 Experience in the maintenance of valves, pumps, pipe lines and other electrical/mechanical

equipment.

 Knowledge of water/wastewater treatment engineering practices.

 Experience working with instrumentation, electrical, PLC control and SCADA systems.

 Knowledge of computer systems and integrated management systems.
