Tax Accountant

We are looking for a tax accountant who is willing to grow technical and client communication skills while working directly with a partner and senior staff to complete the following range of services:

• Preparing and lodging tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships, and sole traders (including income tax returns).

• Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and managing GST reporting and compliance.

• Providing tax advice on business structures, operations, financial planning, deductions, concessions, and strategies to legally minimise tax liabilities.

• Analysing financial records, income, expenditure, and operating costs to ensure accurate tax positioning.

• Identifying opportunities for tax reductions, claims, offsets, and improved profitability through effective tax planning.

• Liaising with the ATO and other regulatory bodies, responding to queries.

• Preparing financial statements where relevant to tax matters.

• Assisting with superannuation, payroll tax, fringe benefits tax (FBT), and other indirect taxes.

• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Australian tax legislation, regulations, and changes (e.g., via ATO rulings and updates).

• Building and maintaining strong client relationships, communicating complex tax concepts clearly.

• Reviewing and improving accounting systems and processes related to tax compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or commerce; CA/CPA qualification preferred.

• Minimum 1-4 years of professional experience in taxation or business services within multi-partner public practice. Experience across all of the job roles as per above.

• Solid understanding of Australian tax law, trust and company compliance, and corporate restructuring.

• Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, and HandiTax.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
