Communications Coordinator

Ag Excellence Alliance (Ag Ex) is preparing for its next chapter.

Established in 2005, Ag Ex is South Australia’s peak organisation supporting grower groups through collaboration, project delivery, capacity building and industry engagement.

Ag Ex connects growers with research, innovation, industry, government and education partners, helping strengthen the productivity, profitability, sustainability and resilience of South Australian agriculture. Grower groups are at the heart of this work, providing the relationships, local knowledge and practical leadership that help turn research and new ideas into outcomes on farm.

As part of a planned evolution of its organisational structure, Ag Ex is seeking an experienced and proactive Communications Coordinator to lead and coordinate communications across the organisation, its projects and stakeholder network.

Reporting to the Executive Officer, the Communications Coordinator will lead implementation of the Ag Ex Communications Strategy and Communications Implementation Plan, strengthening stakeholder engagement, promoting project outcomes, supporting extension and adoption activities, and enhancing the visibility and advocacy role of Ag Ex and the Farming Systems Group network.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating implementation of the Ag Ex Communications Strategy and annual communications plan.

• Managing communications calendars, workflows, approvals and content planning.

• Developing high-quality content across digital and print platforms, including newsletters, website articles, social media, media releases and stakeholder updates.

• Coordinating project case studies, success stories, photography, video and impact communications.

• Managing and maintaining the Ag Ex website, social media channels and e-news distribution.

• Supporting communication and engagement with Farming Systems Groups, project partners, funders, industry stakeholders and media.

• Working with project leads to coordinate communication requirements, project milestones, outcomes and extension activities.

• Ensuring project communications meet funding and branding requirements.

• Monitoring website, newsletter and social media performance and reporting on communications outcomes.

• Maintaining stakeholder databases, communications templates, media lists and digital resources.

About you

You will be an organised and creative communications professional with strong writing, editing and digital communications skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

You will bring demonstrated experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, media or marketing, along with experience managing websites, e-news platforms and social media. You will be confident building relationships with diverse stakeholders and coordinating communications across multiple projects.

Experience in agriculture, regional development, natural resource management or the not-for-profit sector will be highly regarded, as will knowledge of Farming Systems Groups and extension and adoption activities. Graphic design, photography, video, CRM or stakeholder database experience and relevant tertiary qualifications are also desirable.

The position is a part-time contracted role, averaging up to 12 hours per week, with potential for review and expansion. It is flexible and home-based in South Australia, with intrastate travel as required.

A competitive salary commensurate with the requirements of the role and the successful candidate’s qualities and experience will be negotiated.
