About the role
Aspire Together is seeking a reliable and compassionate male Disability Support Worker to join our team on a casual basis, supporting participants across Adelaide and the southern suburbs.
We are particularly interested in applicants based around the Adelaide CBD, inner southern suburbs, or along the corridor towards southern Adelaide, as this will provide convenient access to current and future shifts in these areas.
Aspire Together is a South Australian disability support provider committed to providing respectful, person-centred support that promotes independence, choice and community participation.
Depending on the needs of the participant, your work may include:
Supporting participants with everyday routines and activities
Community access and social participation
Transport to appointments, shopping and other activities
Assistance with meal preparation and light household tasks
Personal care and daily living support where required
Providing encouragement, companionship and emotional support
Supporting participants to work towards their individual goals
Following support plans, procedures and participant preferences
Completing clear and accurate shift notes on time, including behaviour observations and incident documentation where required
Shifts may vary according to participant needs, so flexibility with availability is valued.
We are looking for someone who is:
Reliable and punctual
Calm, patient and respectful
Comfortable working independently and making calm, appropriate decisions in the community
Able to build positive professional relationships with participants
A clear communicator
Able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
Genuinely interested in supporting people to have greater independence and choice
Previous disability or community support experience is highly regarded, but the right attitude, reliability and ability to connect well with participants are also important.
Applicants must have, or be willing and eligible to obtain:
Current NDIS Worker Screening clearance
Current First Aid and CPR
Australian driver's licence
Reliable, roadworthy vehicle with comprehensive insurance
Ability to use a smartphone for communication and shift documentation
Appropriate Australian working rights
A relevant qualification such as Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), Certificate III in Community Services, or similar is preferred.
This position is specifically seeking a male support worker due to the support requirements and preferences associated with the participant/s being matched to this role.
If you are dependable, respectful and interested in building ongoing working relationships with participants, we would be happy to hear from you.
Please apply with your current résumé and include your suburb, general availability and any relevant disability support experience.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to discuss current opportunities and participant matching.
