About the role
The role can be based at either Port Melbourne (VIC) or Devonport (TAS).
SeaRoad is seeking an Injury Management Advisor & Safety Coordinator to support SeaRoad’s strategy and initiatives.
As Injury Management Advisor & Safety Coordinator you will report to the Chief Operating Officer whilst interacting with Managers throughout the organisation.
You will be responsible for the provision of return-to-work programs. You will coordinate first-line return to work activities including workers compensation claim administration, along with working closely with employees, managers, insurers, rehabilitation providers, and treating practitioners to facilitate timely, safe, and sustainable return to work outcomes.
You will be a trusted advisor to the Management team.
The Injury Management Advisor will coordinate all Workers Compensation and Income Protection claims.
The main responsibilities will include handling complicated cases related to work and nonwork-related health conditions, mental health matters and psychosocial hazards.
This role also provides support in the coordination of safety bulletins, preparing safety documents and administering document control.
In the role, you will apply your experience and expertise of the legislation to the management of injury claims, including return-to-work planning and the implementation of adjustments which promote workforce participation.
Key Responsibilities include:
Coordinate first-line return to work activities for injured employees across SeaRoad, including assisting with the development of suitable duties and graduated return to work plans.
Liaise with employees, managers, insurers, rehabilitation providers and treating practitioners regarding injured employee’s capacity for employment, medical restrictions and facilitating return to work arrangements.
Lead the end-to-end management of workers' compensation and salary continuance claims, partnering closely with employees, people leaders and insurers to achieve positive return-to-work outcomes.
Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including medical providers, insurers and regulatory bodies.
Coordinate Return to work, workers compensation and injury management support, including working with leaders, workers and providers,
Coordinate and support return-to-work cases, ensuring activities are completed in line with legislative and company requirements,
Prepare and manage workers compensation claim documentation, including medical certificates, wage information and supporting records,
Maintain accurate case records and escalate risks or concerns where required.
Support the development and implementation of Return-to-Work plans and early intervention initiatives. Act as a key liaison between employees, leaders, Payroll, insurers and rehabilitation providers.
Managing complex injury management cases.
Provide early, timely, customer-focused and empathetic advice to injured workers, leaders, and other stakeholders.
Liaise with stakeholders such as treating health practitioners and insurers to achieve sustainable positive outcomes for injured workers.
Utilise your claims management expertise to optimise financial outcomes including reduction of claim costs and premiums
Keep accurate records, meeting required confidentiality requirements and timeframes for compliance.
Oversee the development and management of return-to-work programs.
Develop strong relationships with external service providers in identifying programs in the management of workers compensation claims.
Conduct thorough incident and accident investigations and implement effective solutions.
Administration based tasks such as, assessing and processing invoices, entering contact notes, drafting letters relating to decisions being made on claims etc.
Provide support administrative support in the delivering safety documentation including document control.
Preparing and coordinating safety bulletins.
About you:
Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) or a Diploma in Human Resources Management.
Thorough working knowledge of health & safety legislation and regulations.
Minimum 3 years of human resource experience within a medium to large organisation.
Experience working in the transport and logistics industry is preferred.
Experience in leading and managing change.
Experience in working in a unionised environment.
A solid understanding of the principles of work-related injury/illness and rehabilitation, and practical application of appropriate claims management processes is mandatory.
