Equity, Inclusion and Impact Lead

• Employment Status: Fixed term until 2 April 2027
• Days & Hours of Work: 4 days totalling 30.4 hours per week (flexibility on days of work)
• Competitive Salary: Band 7 - $118,508.69 pro-rata + 12% superannuation
• Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role:

The Equity, Inclusion and Impact Lead sits within the Community Wellbeing Team and reports to the Coordinator Community Wellbeing. The role facilitates the organisation’s approach to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive organisation and community, where staff and community members feel safe, respected and valued. This role works collaboratively across Council to enable the continuous creation of a culture focused on achieving and measuring Council’s equity and inclusion goals. This is primarily through designing, developing, implementing, and measuring action plans and strategies; advising on organisational programs and initiatives; and facilitating networks and external partnerships. The role is responsible for coordinating and reporting the organisation’s compliance with Gender Equality legislation, through its Gender equity Action Plan and ensuring evaluation, impact and outcomes are embedded across the Health and Inclusion Plan (2025-2029) and other related programs.

You will be responsible for:

• Facilitating the organisational approach to achieving organisational diversity, equity and inclusion outcomes.
• Leading the approach to measuring outcomes and impact of equity and inclusion initiatives/strategies and plans.
• Coordinating the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Advisory Group and networks.
• Providing advice that is based on leading research, evidence and Bayside’s aspirations, as well as respond to ad-hoc queries relating to equity and inclusion.  

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

• Policy and Strategy skills - Demonstrated skills in interpreting policy and legislation, such as the Victorian Public Health and Wellbeing and Gender Equality Acts, and experience in developing organisational strategies/action plans related to equity and inclusion. 
• Strong Project Management skills - with ability to engage a variety of stakeholders for equity and inclusion outcomes.
• Evaluation and Impact - demonstrated understanding of outcomes-thinking and ability to development evaluation frameworks, plans and data collection tools and be able to build the capacity of others to use them.
• Specialist advice and stakeholder management - ability to provide subject matter advice related to equity and inclusion (with a key focus on Gender Equity) to ensure the delivery of the Gender Equity Action Plan - with other employees in other functions within Council to resolve intra-organisational issues, including Senior Leaders and advisory groups and committees. 

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

• Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check.
• Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check.
