The South East Coast Estuary & Flood team in the Marine Coasts Estuary and Flood (MCEF) Branch is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Natural Resources Officer - Floodplain Management (Engineer Grade 4) to drive delivery of studies, plans and projects by local government councils.  The role contributes to the effective regional delivery of the NSW Floodplain Management Program.  

You will by work as part of an inclusive team of flood and coastal management experts that support Councils prepare and implement Floodplain Risk Management Plans to manage flood risks to communities in the South East Region of NSW.  The role also contributes technical and policy advice to Government and Local Councils on flood risk management and regional strategies that address natural hazard and climate changes risks to communities and waterway environments.   

About You 

• You have extensive knowledge and experience of floodplain risk assessment methods and floodplain management strategies. 

• Comprehensive knowledge of the Government's Flood Prone Land Policy, Floodplain Development Manual and related guidelines and legislation. 

• Detailed knowledge and experience in the application of hydrological and hydraulic models in analysing flood behaviour and flood hazards. 

Essential Requirements:  

• Tertiary Qualifications in Civil / Environmental Engineering (or equivalent) and eligible for membership of Engineers Australia. 

• Current drivers licence (Class C)
