The role:

The Retail Sales Assistant is responsible for delivering exceptional in-store customer service while supporting the day-to-day retail operations of the store.

This role ensures customers receive professional advice, efficient service, and a positive shopping experience. Through proactive engagement, accurate processing of sales, and strong merchandising standards, the Retail Sales Assistant contributes directly to store revenue, customer retention, and brand reputation.

Key responsibilities:

• Customer service and sales

  • Provide high-quality service to all customers, including face-to-face, phone, and email enquiries.

  • Assist customers with product selection, fittings, sizing, and compliance requirements for workwear and PPE.

  • Create a positive and professional customer experience that reflects Hip Pocket brand standards.

  • Process sales accurately using POS and EFTPOS systems.

  • Assist in achieving individual and store sales targets.

  • Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities to maximise transaction value.

• Business & Lead Support

  • Maintain store presentation, ensuring shelves, racks, and displays are clean, organised, and fully stocked.

  • Use approved systems to create ticketing and signage for display.

  • Ensure pricing is accurate and promotional materials are implemented correctly.

  • Assist in stock replenishment and inventory control activities.

  • Support maintenance of inventory presentation and standards.

• Order Processing & Administration

  • Accurately process customer orders and ensure details are correctly entered into systems.

  • Assist with tracking and updating outstanding orders.

  • Support customer follow-up regarding order collection or delivery status.

• Safety & Compliance

  • Undertake all activities in line with Hip Pocket policies and procedures.

  • Maintain a safe and organised work environment.

  • Follow workplace health and safety requirements when handling stock and assisting customers.

  • Demonstrate professional behaviour aligned with company mission and values.

• Team Contribution

  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth store operations.

  • Support trade shows, local marketing activities, and training sessions when required.

  • Demonstrate flexibility to assist in different store tasks as needed.
