About the opportunity

Under the leadership and guidance of the Supervising Scientist in Haematology, you will bring your scientific skills and expertise to efficiently perform manual and automated diagnostic testing and performing all routine procedures in the area of Haematology. This full-time position offers 38 hours per week and operates on a rotating roster, including weekend and public holiday shifts.

Applicants should possess the following:

• A bachelor's degree or higher in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an AIMS-assessed equivalent with subjects relevant to Haematology and/or Blood Banking

• Demonstrated experience, knowledge, expertise and skills within a NATA-accredited diagnostic Haematology laboratory

• Ability to work in a responsible and efficient manner to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

• Demonstrated understanding of the legislation, policies and requirements that impact the pathology laboratory environment including ISO15189, NPAAC, WHS and confidentiality requirements

• Demonstrated experience in one or more sections of Morphology, Flow Cytometry, Blood Banking and Special Coagulation will be highly regarded

• Proven ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills

Duties, Roles and Responsibilities:

• Adhering to company and quality policies and procedures.

• Sound knowledge of QC and troubleshooting.

• Maintaining and utilising analysers and equipment.

• Ability to prioritise and organise workflow efficiently and safely.

• Maintaining current scientific knowledge and participating in staff training as required.

• Participating in all the relevant QAP and internal education programs.

• Demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision and with a high degree of independence.

• Availability to work on a rotating 24/7 roster which includes overnights, weekends and public holidays.
