Role & Purpose
Acclime is looking for a compliance-driven Tax Manager to join our high performing tax team.
The role will be responsible for leading and overseeing the delivery of high-quality tax compliance services, ensuring client obligations are met accurately, efficiently and in accordance with relevant legislation and professional standards.
The role provides technical compliance expertise, manages complex tax matters and supports the development of team capability to drive exceptional client outcomes.
Working closely with clients and internal stakeholders, the Tax Manager ensures compliance processes are continually improved, risks are effectively managed and opportunities for value-added tax advisory services are identified.
What you will be doing?
Leadership, mentoring and management of Acclime Australia’s tax compliance team;Lead the tax compliance function;Review of tax compliance items for clients – FBT returns, Income Tax Returns, ESS reporting and other such submissions to the ATO;Provide general tax advice to Acclime Australia Group clients, including but not limited to matters in respect of cross-border taxation issues. This may be verbal, by e-mail and by way of formal letters of tax advice;Identifying and escalating areas requiring specialist input including from Tax Advisory, Transfer Pricing and R&D Advisory;Provide tax advice to Acclime Australia Group management, including preparation and / or review and lodgement of annual tax returns and annual FBT returns for the Acclime Australia Group;Provide general support to the entire Acclime Group (includes Acclime Group overseas affiliates) as and when required in relation to Australian tax;Managing the tax compliance practice including profit & loss to ensure the annual budget for any year is met;[PZ1.1] assist in the preparation of the annual budget; team development & training, including staff reviews;Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office;Adherence to Acclime’s low risk model in relation to R&D services; andOther ad-hoc duties for the Company, clients and the Acclime Group as required.
What are we looking for?
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, commerce or lawCA or CPA qualification or higher education in tax (CTA or Masters of Tax) (preferred)Registered Tax Agent (preferred)Minimum 6 – 8 years’ Australian public practice tax compliance experienceStrong technical expertise across Australian taxation legislation
Strong working knowledge of:Corporate income tax compliance.Interaction between Income Tax and R&D.Tax effect accounting and deferred tax concepts.FBT compliance and advisory.PAYG instalments and tax payments.GST interaction with direct taxes.ATO reporting and review processes.
Experience preparing and/or reviewing:Company tax returnsTrust tax returnsTax reconciliationsFBT returnsTax calculations and workpapersATO correspondence and responsesDemonstrated ability to manage client relationships independentlyExcellent communications and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and internal teamsExperience or demonstrated ability to lead and mentor developing team membersProficiency in accounting and tax software and Microsoft Office applications
