About Us
Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) is one of Australia’s leading cultural destinations and the proud home of live performance in Queensland. Each year, more than 1.85 million people experience over 1,200 performances across its iconic theatres, showcasing everything from blockbuster musicals and ballet to cutting-edge theatre, music and comedy.
At QPAC, the stage is set for extraordinary moments - bringing together world-renowned artists, emerging talent, and audiences from across Australia and beyond to celebrate the power of live performance.
About the Role
We are seeking a creative, organised and digitally-savvy Communications and Media Coordinator to join QPAC’s Communications Team.
This hands-on role works across social media, publicity and general communications, supporting QPAC’s engaging and consistent presence across its owned social media channels. With professional experience managing social media accounts for an organisation, business or brand, you’ll work closely with the Social Media and Publicity Manager to create and edit engaging content, coordinate QPAC’s busy social media schedule and collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation.
You will also support the wider Communications Team with day-to-day publicity, media and communications activities, making this a varied role suited to someone who enjoys balancing creative content creation with coordination and stakeholder engagement.
As Communications and Media Coordinator, you will:
Create content from start to finish in collaboration with the team, including ideas, filming, photography, copywriting, video editing and publishing across QPAC’s social channels
Manage and drive a busy professional social media schedule, coordinating content, approvals and deadlines with teams and stakeholders across QPAC
Keep up to date with emerging social media trends, platform changes and opportunities to create relevant, engaging and audience-focused content
Get amongst the action, building relationships, finding great stories and capturing content from across our theatres, teams, events and behind-the-scenes activity
Support media and publicity activity, including media liaison, onsite interviews, briefings, reporting and broader Communications Team projects
This is a full-time role based primarily onsite at QPAC in South Brisbane. You’ll need some flexibility in your working hours to be where the content is, including supporting performances, events and other communications activity when required.
About You
You’re a people-person and natural storyteller who is curious about what’s happening around you. You enjoy talking to people, uncovering interesting stories, and turning them into content that audiences want to watch, read, and share.
Importantly, you understand the demands of managing social media in a professional environment, including balancing creativity with brand, approvals, deadlines and multiple stakeholders.
You will bring:
Professional experience managing social media accounts for an organisation, business or brand, ideally as part of a marketing, communications or social media team
Strong hands-on content creation and digital skills, including filming and editing engaging social media content, photography, copywriting and publishing, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut and Microsoft Office, and some experience with HTML.
A strong understanding of social media trends, platforms and best practice, with the curiosity to continually explore what’s changing and what audiences are engaging with
Excellent communication and people skills, with the confidence to build relationships, ask questions, find stories and work with a wide range of people
Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Media, Journalism, Creative Industries or a related discipline, with knowledge of local media, arts media or the performing arts industry highly regarded
Why Work at QPAC?
Working at QPAC means being part of one of Australia’s leading performing arts centres. With a vibrant and supportive workplace culture, our people are passionate about delivering exceptional experiences for audiences and artists alike.
Our people also enjoy a range of benefits designed to support wellbeing, connection and a great workplace experience, including:
