Executive Chef

Kedron-Wavell Limited is looking for an experienced Executive Chef to lead our kitchen operations across Kedron-Wavell in Chermside and The Sands Social in Sandgate.

This is a senior leadership role for a chef who knows how to lead multiple outlets, develop great people and build strong kitchen systems – but still enjoys putting on the jacket and getting hands-on when it matters.

You’ll lead three Head Chefs and oversee our kitchen hand teams, with responsibility for the performance, consistency and direction of our kitchens across both venues.

·       Lead, coach and develop our Head Chefs and kitchen teams.

·       Oversee multiple kitchens and food outlets across two venues.

·       Be visible and hands-on when the operation needs you.

·       Drive strong kitchen systems, standards and processes.

·       Maintain exceptional food safety, hygiene and compliance.

·       Oversee food costs, labour, purchasing, stock and waste.

·       Develop commercially successful menus that reflect what our customers want.

·       Keep our restaurant menus fresh with seasonal menu changes.

·       Maintain consistency in food quality, presentation and service.

·       Work closely with our Operations Manager who leads the FOH F&B outlets, and the wider senior leadership team.

·       Contribute to future restaurant concepts and new venue developments.

You’ll need to be an experienced chef who knows how to lead through other leaders, rather than needing to run every kitchen yourself.

You’ll bring:

·       Strong experience managing multiple kitchens or food outlets.

·       Experience leading and developing Head Chefs or senior kitchen leaders.

·       Strong knowledge of kitchen systems and food safety.

·       Sound commercial understanding of food costs, labour and operational performance.

·       Proven menu development experience and a good understanding of customer and food trends.

·       A calm, organised and collaborative leadership style.

·       Experience launching a new restaurant or food concept will be highly regarded.

Most importantly, you’ll know how to maintain high standards without yelling, intimidation or ego. We run respectful kitchens and want a leader who can create accountability while building a positive culture.

This is a full-time Tuesday to Saturday role, working across Kedron-Wavell in Chermside and The Sands Social in Sandgate.

As a senior operational leader, some flexibility will be required when the business needs you.
