Sunlover Reef Cruises sets off daily from Cairns, cruising via Fitzroy Island to the spectacular Moore Reef on the iconic Great Barrier Reef. With glass-bottom and semi-sub tours, guided snorkelling, diving adventures, Seawalker helmet diving, and even helicopter flights, we deliver the full reef experience—with a team that loves what they do.

We’re on the lookout for an experienced and capable MED1 who’s ready to bring their skills, enthusiasm, and sense of adventure to our marine operations team. If you’re someone who can keep vessel systems humming while enjoying life on the reef, this gig is for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

As our MED1, you’ll be the go-to person for keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes—maintaining machinery, solving problems on the fly, and helping ensure every day on the water is safe and enjoyable for guests and crew alike.

What We’re Looking For

• A qualified MED1 (essential!) with a solid trade background—mechanical preferred but not essential

• Someone who takes pride in keeping a vessel clean, seaworthy, and mechanically sound

• Experience repairing ship machinery: generators, main engines, pumps, pipework—you know the drill

• Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills

• Plenty of maritime engineering experience and the ability to work well with a small engineering team and a daily crew of around 30

• A knack for troubleshooting and keeping onboard systems in top shape

• Clear and confident communication skills—you’ll be working closely with the Captain and management

• A commitment to maintaining our operating standards and safety practices

Weekends and public holidays are part of the fun out here, so a bit of flexibility is a must.
