Here’s What You’ll Be Up To…
As a Trainee Engineer, you will gain invaluable, hands-on workforce experience while completing your engineering degree. This role features a structured rotation program across Council’s Design, Traffic, Development Engineering, and Strategic Assets departments, offering comprehensive exposure to different facets of civil engineering and diverse career paths within Local Government.
Please note: Employment in this trainee position is temporary and will conclude upon the completion of your current engineering qualification.

What are we looking for?
We are seeking a motivated self-starter who is eager to learn, collaborates effectively within a team, and is driven to develop broad skills across all areas of Local Government Engineering.
The must-know bits
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied.
Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.

Requirements
Essential Criteria
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (or equivalent), having successfully completed at least your first year of study, and not currently in your final year (at the time of commencement). Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite. A current Class C Australian Driver Licence.
Desirable Criteria
A foundational understanding of civil engineering practices and principles. Demonstrated experience working productively within a team environment. Familiarity or experience with Council, Transport for NSW (TfNSW), and Australian Standards.
