Senior Commercial Property Lawyer | Flexible / Remote-First

You stay close to sophisticated work, own your client relationships directly, exercise real judgement, and build a recognised specialisation of your own, without picking up a team of juniors along the way.The RoleThis is a senior practitioner role, not a supervisory one. You will not be managing a team of junior lawyers. Instead, you will:• Run complex commercial property matters independently, from first instruction to completion, with minimal need for sign-off on routine judgement calls• Own your own matters and client relationships directly, across work including negotiated leasing terms outside standard positions, acquisitions and disposals, development agreements, options, assignments and disputes• Build client relationships strong enough that clients call you first, the way they would call an internal legal team• Feed lessons from real deals back into SR Legal's templates and precedents• Build a recognised specialisation of your own within commercial property over timeThe CandidateWe are looking for a lawyer with 5+ years post-admission experience in commercial property, who brings sound commercial judgement, not just technical competence. You will:• Hold, or be entitled to hold, a current Victorian practising certificate• Have a demonstrated track record running complex commercial property matters independently• Identify the commercial issue behind a legal question, not just the technical point, and know when to pause and check something rather than guess• Have strong people skills, including the ability to manage clients confidently when a deal is under pressure or the stakes are high• Have the confidence to tell clients what they need to hear, not just what they want to hear• Be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy and taking ownership of your matters
