About the role
Parliament of Tasmania offers a supportive environment to enable our employees to do the best work of their career. We’re looking to secure a new Assistant Manager, Library and Research Services to support the delivery of high-quality library, research and information services that enable Members, committees and parliamentary staff access timely, reliable and relevant information. The role provides operational and technical leadership across service delivery, systems, resources and business processes, and continuous improvement, in conjunction with the Manager, Library and Research Services, ensuring services remain responsive, reliable and aligned with the evolving needs of Parliament.
As a trusted colleague, you’ll have professional flexibility to perform the role whilst being empowered to build a sense of community at work. You’ll be reporting to the Manager, Library and Research Services.
About Us
The Parliament of Tasmania is a meeting place where elected representatives meet to make laws, authorise the expenditure of public funds, scrutinise the government of the day, and give a voice to their constituents in the electorates. The Parliament is made up of three (3) separate Departments consisting of House of Assembly, Legislative Council, and Legislature - General.
Location
We foster a collaborative and engaging workplace. As such, this role is required to be performed in person and on site in Hobart and may involve work at additional locations depending on operational requirements.
We want to hear from you if you have:
Demonstrated experience leading the delivery and continuous improvement of library, research, information or related professional services.
Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to build productive partnerships across a diverse range of client groups.
Well-developed judgement, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a dynamic environment.
Experience providing specialist advice and contributing to service innovation, business improvement or digital transformation initiatives
Relevant tertiary qualifications in library and information management, information management, research, business or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Have or be able to obtain a ‘Registration to Work with Vulnerable People’ and ‘National Police Record Check’.

Essential Requirements
