About the Opportunity

Based in Henderson, WA, the Weld Advisor will be responsible for providing technical governance, expertise and oversight of welding activities across the LCH project to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and client specifications. This role defines welding requirements, approves procedures and provides specialist advice on welding processes, defects and repair strategies. The Weld Advisor supports Quality, Engineering and Production functions by ensuring consistent application of best practice welding standards.

What’s Involved

• Develop, review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
• Provide authoritative interpretation of applicable welding codes, standards and client specifications (e.g. AS/NZS, ISO, AWS)
• Define welding requirements and acceptance criteria for use across the LCH project
• Provide expert advice on complex welding issues, defects and repair methodologies
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for welding non-conformances
• Oversee welder qualifications (WPQ) and welding procedure qualification requirements
• Ensure welding procedures are appropriate for material type, joint configuration and service conditions
• Analyse welding defect trends and recommend improvement initiatives
• Identify opportunities to improve welding quality, efficiency and productivity
• Support implementation of improved welding processes, consumables or techniques
• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) during internal and external audits.
• Provide technical support to Quality, Engineering and Production teams

You’ll Need

• Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, or related discipline) or relevant trade qualification
• Welding inspection certification such as CSWIP 3.1 or equivalent qualification
• Advanced technical knowledge of welding processes, procedures, and fabrication practices
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, codes, and industry standards
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot welding issues and provide solutions
• Extensive experience in welding within fabrication, marine, or heavy industry environments
• Proven experience in developing, reviewing, and approving WPS and PQR documentation
• Strong understanding of weld defects, failure mechanisms, repair strategies, and welding compliance requirement
