About the role
The Mechanical Project Engineer will provide mechanical engineering and project delivery support for gas infrastructure projects, including gas processing facilities, pipelines, compression facilities, terminals and associated brownfield modifications. The role will be responsible for delivering mechanical engineering activities safely, efficiently and in accordance with project specifications, Australian Standards and client requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage mechanical engineering activities from concept/FEED through detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover.Develop and review mechanical equipment specifications, datasheets, calculations, drawings and technical documentation.Provide engineering support for gas processing equipment, compressors, pumps, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, valves and mechanical packages.Coordinate mechanical and piping interfaces with process, electrical, instrumentation, civil and structural disciplines.Review and approve vendor drawings, datasheets, calculations and technical submissions.Prepare technical scopes of work, equipment requisitions and procurement documentation.Undertake technical bid evaluations and provide recommendations for mechanical equipment and packages.Support pipeline, compression, metering and gas facility projects and modifications.Provide engineering support for brownfield modifications, tie-ins, shutdowns and facility upgrades.Resolve technical queries, site issues, RFIs, design changes and non-conformances.Support Project Managers with project planning, cost estimation, change management and technical matters.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.5+ years’ experience in mechanical/project engineering within the gas, oil & gas, LNG, energy or process industries.Experience with gas facilities, pipelines, compression or associated mechanical systems highly desirable.Strong understanding of engineering design, procurement, construction and commissioning processes.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
