54 reasons is looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Practitioner to support a locally led team focused on improving school engagement, attendance, wellbeing and educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families. This role is ideally based in Doomadgee.

This is more than a service delivery role—it's an opportunity to work alongside a remote Aboriginal community to strengthen educational participation, cultural connection and family wellbeing. In this full-time max term role (till December 31st, 2027), you'll work as part of our Strong Family Strong Future – Walking Together in Learning team in Doomadgee to help us create lasting change for children, young people and families everywhere.  

You will make a difference by:

• Driving quality program implementation – planning, coordinating and delivering activities that improve school engagement, attendance, wellbeing and educational outcomes while ensuring services meet community needs, contractual requirements and organisational standards.
• Providing practice leadership – coaching, mentoring and developing team members to strengthen capability, improve practice and ensure high-quality service delivery.
• Supporting children, young people and families – maintaining a caseload and providing practical support, advocacy, mentoring and case coordination to participants with diverse and complex needs.
• Creating culturally safe and trauma-informed services – ensuring all engagement reflects strengths-based, culturally responsive and child-focused practice.

This role requires: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Degree or Diploma in Community Services or relevant field   and/or significant equivalent experience
• Demonstrated experience in building strong community partnerships developing and maintaining productive relationships with community members, schools, government agencies and service providers to support shared outcomes.
• Demonstrated experience in working alongside children and families, using a partnership and strengths-based approach, to set and achieve agreed outcomes in a community development setting.
• Current driver’s licence
