Royal Canberra Golf Club is Canberra's highest-ranked golf club and proudly recognised among the Top 30 golf courses in Australia. Our beautifully presented 27-hole championship course is regarded as one of the country's finest, and we're looking for our next Apprentice Greenkeeper to join the team.

As an Apprentice Greenkeeper, you'll work alongside an experienced and supportive team responsible for preparing our championship course to the highest standards every day. Supported by a leadership team with more than 100 years of combined industry experience, you'll receive mentoring from some of the best professionals in the Australian turf industry as you develop the skills for a rewarding long-term career.

No two days are the same. One day you could be preparing the course for a championship event, the next learning about irrigation systems, turf health or operating specialised machinery. This is more than just an apprenticeship, it's an opportunity to build a career in an industry that combines science, technology, environmental management and elite sports turf presentation.

What You'll Learn

Throughout your apprenticeship you'll receive structured on-the-job training, formal study through CIT commencing in February 2027, and hands-on experience maintaining one of Australia's leading golf courses.

Your training will include:

• Course setup for daily member play and major competitions
• Mowing and safe operation of specialised turf machinery
• Maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and surrounding landscapes
• Irrigation systems and water management
• Turf health, pest and disease identification
• Safe work practices and environmental management
• Working collaboratively within a high-performing professional team

We're Looking for Someone Who Is

• Motivated, reliable and eager to learn
• Passionate about working outdoors
• Proud of producing high-quality work
• Interested in golf, turf management or horticulture
• Committed to working safely and wearing required PPE
• Physically fit and comfortable with early morning starts
• Holds, or is willing to obtain, a driver's licence
• Has full working rights to work in Australia
• Willing to commit to CIT studies commencing in February 2027

Position Details

• Start Date: The successful applicant will commence employment during October 2026, gaining valuable on-the-job experience before commencing CIT studies in February 2027
• Rate of Pay: First Year Apprentice, $20.00 per hour
