The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a governance professional who enjoys working across a broad range of governance and integrity functions while contributing to organisational improvement and public confidence.

Reporting to the Governance Manager, you will provide specialist governance advice and coordinate key governance activities across Council, ensuring legislative compliance, ethical decision-making and sound governance practices. 

The role offers variety, challenge and meaningful work, with responsibilities spanning governance frameworks, integrity matters, statutory compliance, investigations, policy development and governance capability building.

• $109,838 base annual salary
• $ 124,675 Total Remuneration Package which is based on a full-time employee and inclusive of 12% Employer superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading.

About You

You are an experienced governance professional who enjoys navigating complex issues, building strong stakeholder relationships and delivering practical governance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist governance advice and support to Councillors, leaders and employees on governance, compliance and integrity matters
• Coordinate and continuously improve governance frameworks, policies, delegations and governance systems
• Support integrity, investigation, Public Interest Disclosure and councillor conduct processes to ensure legislative compliance and sound outcomes
• Support governance activities associated with democratic processes, councillor governance, elections and statutory decision-making
• Lead governance projects, reviews and capability-building initiatives that strengthen organisational performance and public confidence

Skills and Experience

• Experience in governance, compliance, integrity, policy development, investigations or a related advisory function
• Sound knowledge of governance principles, legislation and regulatory frameworks, with the ability to interpret and apply complex requirements
• Highly developed analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, policies, briefings and governance documentation
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver projects and drive continuous improvement initiatives
• Demonstrated commitment to ethical conduct, integrity and customer-focused service delivery

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Governance, Business, Law, Public Administration, Public Policy, Compliance, Commerce or a related discipline
• Current C Class driver licence
