DFV Specialist – Co-Engagement

The Role 

The Co-Engagement DFV Specialist role is responsible for providing services directly to women who are experiencing Domestic and/or Family Violence (DFV).The DFV Specialist will work in partnership with Queensland Police Service (QPS) through a co‑responder model. This position undertakes joint ride‑alongs with QPS officers to attend homes of clients who have experienced DFV, providing expert DFV knowledge, immediate crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, and connection to ongoing support services; while also helping police strengthen their DFV understanding and contribute to more effective engagement with victim‑survivors.  

Key Responsibilities: 

• Work alongside QPS officers to deliver coordinated, victim‑centred responses and strengthen frontline practice.  
• Participate in scheduled ride‑alongs with QPS to provide immediate, trauma‑informed support to victim‑survivors in their homes.  
• Provide phone and face to face crisis support, risk assessment, case management, safety planning, advocacy, information, and referral to women and children who are experiencing Domestic and Family Violence.  
• Advocate for victim‑survivors during police interactions, ensuring their needs, concerns, and safety priorities are clearly communicated and understood.  
• Assist QPS in interpreting DFV risk factors, contextual information, and client presentations to improve assessment accuracy and response quality.  
• Support constructive communication between QPS and clients to build trust, reduce barriers, and support safer engagement.  
• Share and receive relevant information with QPS and partner agencies in line with legislative requirements to support safety, risk management, and coordinated service delivery.  
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of case notes, assessments, safety planning and follow‑up actions in accordance with organisational and legislative requirements.  

Salary and Benefits 

• SCHADS Level 5.1 ($51 p/h) | Full-Time (38 Hours Per Week) | $93,860 annually 
• Fixed term contract until 29 January 2027 
• Salary Packaging up to $15,900 (superannuation can be paid in addition to this, subject to any ATO limit if any).

Experience and Qualifications 

Please note, roles above a SCHADS Level 4.1 require completed or working towards tertiary qualifications at a bachelors/undergraduate level or higher. Roles above a SCHADS Level 5.1 require completed tertiary qualifications at a bachelors/undergraduate level or higher.  

• This role requires qualifications in human services, social work, psychology or similar.   
• Experience in specialist DFV case management preferred.  
• Capacity to collaborate and work effectively as part of a team and with stakeholders. 

Potential Start Dates 

This role is available to start on 13 July 2026.  

We have set start dates for new team members so that they can undertake our supportive induction process with our Practice and Development Lead. This process allows new team members to have set time to learn more about our organisation, our practice frameworks and set up all equipment and logins.
