About the Opportunity 

We are seeking a committed and career-focused Law Clerk to join our Wills & Estates team in Melbourne.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys supporting lawyers and contributing to the efficient management of estate planning and estate administration matters. You will work closely with experienced lawyers, assisting with file management, estate administration, practice support and client service.

You'll be an integral part of the team, helping to ensure matters progress efficiently while delivering a high standard of support across the practice.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist lawyers with the administrative aspects of estate planning and estate administration matters.
• Undertake legal research and drafting, including wills, powers of attorney and probate documents.
• Support the progression of estate planning and administration matters.
• Review file materials and identify key information and risks.
• Prepare correspondence and assist with client communications.
• Assist with inbox management, workflow coordination and end-of-month billing.
• Manage the Wills & Estates Settify workflow.
• Respond to deed enquiries and requests for copy documents.
• Attend client meetings and support general file management.
• Contribute to team initiatives and process improvements.

About You 

You’ll bring:

• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a Wills & Estates practice.
• A Diploma of Legal Services or similar qualification.
• A genuine interest in Wills & Estates law and a desire to build a long-term career as a Law Clerk in this area.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
• A proactive and reliable approach, with strong organisational skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively within a team.
• Experience supporting billing, practice administration and file management processes.
• A client-focused mindset, with the ability to approach sensitive matters with professionalism and empathy.
• Experience with Settify or similar legal technology platforms will be highly regarded.
