Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Building Certifier role located in Gold Coast, QLD. The Building Certifier is responsible for assessing building plans and documentation to ensure compliance with relevant building codes, standards, and local regulations. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing design drawings, issuing building approvals, conducting site inspections at key stages of construction, and preparing clear compliance reports and certifications. The role involves liaising with architects, engineers, builders, and council or regulatory bodies to resolve compliance issues and provide practical guidance. The Building Certifier also maintains accurate records, stays current with legislative changes, and supports a culture of safety and regulatory integrity across all projects.
Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in building certification, building surveying, or a closely related field, with strong knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.Relevant tertiary qualification in building surveying, construction management, engineering, or a similar discipline, along with appropriate certification or accreditation required in QLD.Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, and to identify compliance and safety issues.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the capacity to balance regulatory requirements, practical construction considerations, and project timelines.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with clients, consultants, contractors, and authorities, and to provide clear guidance on compliance matters.High level of attention to detail, professional ethics, and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Competence with relevant software tools and digital document management systems; familiarity with industry-specific certification or compliance platforms is an advantage.Current driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for site inspections within the Gold Coast and surrounding areas.
