Role Description This full-time, on-site Personal Support Worker role is based in Auburn, NSW. The Personal Support Worker will provide direct support to older people and people living with disability in their homes and community settings, assisting with personal care, mobility, hygiene, dressing and safe use of equipment. Day-to-day tasks include supporting daily living activities such as meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication prompts (within scope), and accompanying individuals to appointments, social activities and community programs. The role involves monitoring wellbeing, reporting changes or concerns promptly, documenting supports accurately and following individual care plans and NDIS or aged care guidelines. The Personal Support Worker will collaborate with families, carers and allied health professionals, uphold safeguarding and risk management practices, and promote dignity, choice and independence in every interaction.
Qualifications
Experience as a Support Worker or in a similar direct care role, with a commitment to person-centred practiceStrong Interpersonal Skills, including empathy, patience and the ability to build trust with diverse individuals and familiesKnowledge of Safeguarding principles, risk awareness and safe work practices in aged care and disability support settingsClear and professional Communication skills, including accurate documentation and effective collaboration with care teamsBasic Technical Support capabilities, such as assisting with simple devices, apps or communication aids used by clientsRelevant qualification such as Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability or equivalent (or progress toward completion)Current First Aid and CPR certification, and up-to-date clearances (e.g., police check, Working With Children Check if required)Understanding of NDIS and aged care frameworks, cultural awareness, and the ability to work flexibly across varying shifts
