Sydney Aboriginal Family Support Service (SAFSS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation dedicated to providing culturally safe, respectful and high-quality supports to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, families and NDIS participants across Sydney and surrounding areas.

We are growing our NDIS services and are seeking a compassionate, reliable and motivated NDIS Support Worker to join our team.

About the Role

As an NDIS Support Worker, you will work directly with participants and their families to support them in achieving their individual goals while promoting independence, inclusion and wellbeing.

Your duties may include:

• Providing one-on-one support to NDIS participants in their home and community.

• Assisting participants to access community activities, appointments and services.

• Supporting the development of daily living and independent living skills.

• Providing transport to appointments, education, cultural activities and community events.

• Encouraging social participation and meaningful community engagement.

• Maintaining accurate case notes and documentation.

• Working collaboratively with families, service providers and the SAFSS team.

• Providing culturally safe and trauma-informed support.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

• Passionate about supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.

• Reliable, respectful and able to build positive relationships with participants and families.

• Patient, compassionate and able to work independently.

• A strong communicator with good organisational skills.

• Flexible and willing to work a variety of shifts.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.

Essential Requirements

• Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).

• Current Working with Children Check (NSW).

• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

• Current unrestricted NSW Driver Licence.

• Access to a reliable and insured vehicle.

• Right to work in Australia.

Desirable

• Previous experience working with NDIS participants.

• Experience supporting children and young people with Autism, ADHD, intellectual disability or developmental delay.

• Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Community Services, Disability or a related qualification.

• Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and communities.
