Senior Information Technology Engineer

Role Description The Senior Information Technology Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Canberra. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining client IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, security tools, and cloud services. The engineer will provide advanced technical support, troubleshoot complex issues, and act as an escalation point for the service desk team. Day-to-day duties include performing system upgrades, monitoring performance and security, documenting configurations, and ensuring alignment with compliance and policy requirements. The role also involves collaborating with clients to assess their needs, recommending solutions, supporting AI and VoIP implementations, and contributing to continuous improvement of internal processes and standards.
Qualifications Strong experience with server and network administration (e.g., Windows Server, switches, routers) and cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure).Proficiency in cybersecurity practices, including endpoint protection, vulnerability management, identity and access management, and security monitoring.Knowledge of IT compliance frameworks and policy management, with experience implementing controls and documenting procedures to meet regulatory or partner requirements.Experience with IT service desk environments, incident and problem management, and ITIL-based processes to ensure reliable support and service delivery.Familiarity with AI-related solutions and automation tools, and the ability to integrate these into existing IT environments where appropriate.Experience with VoIP systems and unified communications solutions, including configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.Ability to manage IT procurement activities, including evaluating vendors, selecting hardware and software, and ensuring cost-effective, secure solutions.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.Demonstrated experience in a senior or lead IT engineering role, preferably within a Managed IT Services or similar multi-client environment.
