About the role
WPSD is a strategic policy division within the Department of Education. The division sets the direction for the department's approach to teacher preparation, attraction, development and retention. The division delivers a number of key workforce initiatives supporting pre-service and early career teachers, and collaborates with colleagues across the wider department to support the translation of policy to implementation. The division has growing expertise in the broader, non-teaching schools workforce.
The division is recruiting two policy managers, whose initial teams will be:
Applicants with a particular interest in this role should ensure their application demonstrates their understanding of the Victorian government's role in supporting quality Initial Teacher Education.
Applicants with a particular interest in this role should ensure their application demonstrates an understanding of how to lead complex change within government departments and government-run systems.
Managers may be assigned to different teams and/or policy priorities as need arises.
As a Policy Manager, you will lead a team focused on strategy and policy development. You will model a collaborative approach to understanding and addressing systemic challenges. You will guide the team's stakeholder engagement, leading on more complex and senior stakeholder engagement activities. You will foster critical and creative thinking about policy challenges. You will oversee the production of compelling business cases to seek funding for new initiatives. You will maintain a high performing and developmental culture within your team, ensuring quality outputs and promoting team wellbeing.

As a manager, you will proactively lead initiatives that help sustain and improve a collaborative, supportive culture and inclusive environment.
