About the role

The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the health care team including clients/carers, other health professionals, general practitioners and other agencies (including non-Government agencies). This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to alcohol and other drugs within a community health setting.   

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

• Clinical Capability - Advanced clinical knowledge of, as well as, comprehensive assessment and counselling skills in, the alcohol, tobacco and other drugs field; including a working knowledge of the principles of primary health care and ability to deal with clients presenting with complex substance issues. Pro-actively manages own continuous learning and development.
• Patient Focus - Builds good rapport with patients and effectively prioritises and plans work time to deliver flexible and holistic patient care within designated time frames.
• Communication and Interpersonal skills - Sound interpersonal skills, including a high standard of written and oral communication skill; the demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships and to address & resolve conflict.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
