Since 2012, Australia has been a key territory for Neoen. We have developed and built more than 4.5 GW of wind, solar and storage projects and targeting more than 5GW capacity in operation or under construction by early 2026 and an additional 5GW by 2030.

Our development efforts in Australia started paying-off in late 2014, when the government of the ACT granted Neoen the major part of the capacity at stake in its tender process: it enabled us to deliver the wind power project of Hornsdale, which gradually increased to a capacity of 309 MW. Neoen has delivered 20+ assets under construction, commissioning, and operation in most states/territories:

• SA: the 3 Hornsdale wind farms (Siemens technology), the 150MW/194MWh Hornsdale Power Reserve (Tesla technology) and the 200MW/400MWh Blyth Battery (NHOA technology); the 209MW Goyder South 1A Wind Farm (38x5.5MW Cypress 5.5-158 Turbines) and the 204MW Goyder South 1B Wind Farm (37x5.5MW Cypress 5.5-158 Turbines), which combined form the largest wind farm operated by Neoen worldwide.
• WA: the 219MW/877MWh and 341MW/1,363MWh Collie 1 and Collie 2 Batteries and as its first project decommissioned the Degrussa Solar Project (off-grid hybrid plant supplying electricity to the Sandfire copper mine in Meekatharra). Muchea BESS (164MW / 905 MWh).
• NSW/ACT: in operation: five solar farms (the 188MWp Coleambally Solar Farm and the 4 “ARENA solar farms” located in Parkes, Griffith and Dubbo totaling 130MWp) and the Capital BESS (118MW / 200MWh, Doosan technology) and, currently under construction the 440MWp Culcairn Solar Farm.
• VIC: a solar farm, the Bulgana wind farm (Gamesa technology) and the Victorian Big Battery (300MW/450MWh, Tesla technology) – all assets have been divested to HMC as a requirement by ACCC to allow the acquisition of Neoen by Brookfield in 2024.

Role description

Our Asset Management Department is looking for an Asset Manager who will act as the central operational owner for a portfolio of assets, potentially across different technologies but with a dominance of BESS technology. The Asset Manager will manage the technical, financial, contractual, compliance, risk, stakeholder and reporting dimensions of the assets, in line with Neoen’s strategic direction and with the objective of preserving and maximising asset value over time. Consequently, the Asset Manager oversees all aspects relevant to asset performance, including safe and compliant operations, O&M contractor management, market and grid obligations, revenue optimisation, cost control, stakeholder engagement, continuous improvement and effective coordination with Neoen’s internal support functions.

The main responsibilities can be summarized as follows :

• Manage the operation and maintenance of assigned assets, ensuring safe, compliant, reliable and financially optimised performance.
• Oversee O&M contractors, technical service providers and external consultants, ensuring contractual obligations, maintenance requirements and performance targets are met.
• Lead or support operational readiness and transition activities for new assets, including handover from Construction, Finance, Energy Management and Development where relevant.
• Maintain asset management plans, dashboards, referentials, compliance plans, risk registers, document repositories, contract obligation registers and other key asset records.
• Monitor and analyse asset performance, including availability, losses, revenue, FCAS and market costs, HSE indicators, compliance obligations and contractor performance.
• Prepare and contribute to daily, monthly, internal and external reporting in accordance with Neoen requirements and asset-specific agreements.
• Manage and monitor compliance obligations, including market, grid, generator performance standards, development approval, environmental, contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate closely with the Operations Control Centre to ensure operating protocols, bidding instructions, procedures, training material and communication protocols are current and effectively implemented.
• Apply Neoen’s decision-making, Delegation of Authority, RACI and escalation frameworks for material technical, commercial, regulatory, contractual or public communication matters.
• Manage technical and operational change processes, including impact assessment, approvals, communication, implementation and documentation.
• Prepare and monitor O&M budgets, support financial forecasting and provide operational inputs to Finance for budget, lender and shareholder reporting.
• Manage stakeholder relationships, including local communities, landowners, contractors, network service providers, market bodies, offtakers and internal support functions.
• Support insurance, claims, incident reporting, emergency response and business continuity processes as required.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to enhance performance, reduce controllable losses, optimise OPEX and support Neoen’s portfolio-wide asset management initiatives.
• Promote a strong HSE culture through proactive engagement, inspections, reporting, incident review and follow-up of corrective actions.

The position is based in Neoen’s Sydney office and reports to the Senior Asset Management Lead. The role may involve regular travel to the Canberra office, where the Operations Control Centre is located, and to asset locations across Australia as required.

The candidate will need the following skills and experience to succeed in this role:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering.
• Additional business, project management or asset management qualification would be a plus.
• Proven experience supervising and coordinating operation and maintenance activities for renewable energy generation, BESS or similar infrastructure assets.
• Experience with BESS operations, market participation, dispatch, FCAS or ancillary services would be highly valued.
• Working knowledge of renewable energy plants and equipment, including solar, wind, battery storage, auxiliary plant, electrical systems and high voltage infrastructure.
• Understanding of Australian electricity market frameworks, including NEM/WEM, AEMO dispatch, generator registration and generator compliance obligations.
• Strong contract administration capability, including O&M contracts, PPAs, service agreements, claims, variations and performance liquidated damages.
• Ability to analyse operational and financial performance data and convert findings into practical actions.
• Experience with risk management, compliance management, technical change management or asset management systems.
• High-level troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be technically innovative and commercially pragmatic.
• Demonstrated up-to-date working knowledge of Workplace Health, Safety and Environment requirements.
• Excellent communication and liaison skills, with the ability to effectively interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Effective leadership, supervision, planning and organisational skills.
• Well-developed computer skills and familiarity with MS Office, CMMS, SCADA, monitoring platforms, asset dashboards and contract or compliance management tools.
• Autonomy, accountability and ability to operate in a structured governance environment.
