Buyer - Tabletop | Global Retail Brands

We are proud to introduce an exciting opportunity within Global Retail Brands, Australia's premier specialty homewares retailer, boasting a vast network of over 300 stores nationwide. We are actively seeking a dynamic Buyer to join our team focusing on our Tabletop portfolio.

Reporting to the Head of Merchandise - Home Hard. This pivotal role will be responsible for the buying, development and procurement of product and ranges for the Global Retail Brands business, in line with the company’s strategic direction — with a strong focus on driving sales, margin and stock performance.

This is not just about managing a category — we’re looking for a true retail trader. Someone with their finger on the pulse, who understands the dynamics of trade, anticipates market movements, keeps a close eye on what other retailers are doing and leads the category with innovation and agility.

Key responsibilities of the role will include but not be limited to:

• Strategic Category Leadership: Develop and lead the strategic direction for our kitchenware category, aligning product buying, development, and procurement with the company’s long-term vision

• Promotional and Trading Strategy: Design and implement comprehensive promotional programs, planning initiatives a full 12 months in advance while remaining adaptable to market changes

• Performance Analytics & Reporting: Lead daily and weekly reviews of performance metrics, synthesizing data into actionable insights that drive forward trading and promotional adjustments

• Visual Merchandising & Market Insights: Strategically plan visual merchandising for promotions and core lines, ensuring that presentation supports optimal return on investment

• Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement: Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to a team of category managers and retail traders, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high accountability
  

About you:

• Minimum of 1–3 years’ experience working as a Category Manager/Buyer or in a similar buying/product role

• Strong technical product knowledge with a focus on product quality and continuous improvement

• Proven commercial acumen and a passion for retail trading

• Strong analytical and planning skills with the ability to pivot quickly based on performance and trends

• Exceptional attention to detail, organisation, and time management

• Confident working in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment

• A background in retail is highly advantageous, particularly within kitchenware or homewares
  

This full-time position offers the opportunity for someone passionate to join to join a fast-paced, highly dynamic design team and environment, and to help support and contribute towards the growth of Global Retail Brands. This is a very exciting time to join the company as you will be part of a large, experienced and super-fun team, working 5 days in the office on St Kilda Road with access to lots of public transport, cafes near by and with dogs in the office – this is a role not to be missed!
