The Opportunity
Step into a critical role keeping our Council moving. As a Mechanic at our Tycannah Street Works Depot in Moree, you will diagnose mechanical problems and carry out effective maintenance and repairs on our light and heavy plant. Your preventative maintenance programs will ensure maximum availability of Council vehicles to meet the operational needs of our community.
From machining parts to inspecting vehicles for roadworthiness and registration, your tradesman-like skills will minimize downtime and keep our workshop safe and efficient.

About You
You are a safety-conscious and adaptable team player who can work autonomously to meet deadlines. You bring solid experience in diagnosing, servicing, and repairing heavy and light vehicles to industry standards.
To succeed in this role, you will bring
A Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology and a Trade Certificate in Automotive Mechanics (Heavy Vehicle) licensed with the MVRIA.
A current Class HR Drivers Licence (NSW) and a General Construction Induction Certificate (White Card).
Demonstrated experience rectifying abnormal tyre wear and carrying out preventative maintenance programs.
Sound literacy and numeracy skills to accurately complete job cards, daily running sheets, and fuel usage records.
Desirable qualifications include ASCIS or HVAIS Examiner accreditation (e.g. heavy vehicle RMS Pink Slip), a Class HC Drivers Licence, a Forklift or Dogging ticket, and Working at Heights or Confined Spaces certification.
