Workplace Health & Safety Advisor
Fixed Term, Full-Time | Multiple Positions | Melbourne – Eastern & Western Suburbs

Whelans Group is seeking an experienced and proactive Workplace Health & Safety Advisor to join our team and play a key role in supporting the delivery of a safe, compliant and high-performing work environment across our project operations.
As the WHS Advisor, you will be responsible for providing practical WHS advice and support across multiple work sites. You will contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of safety initiatives while ensuring compliance with Victorian WHS legislation, company policies and relevant industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct inspections, audits and risk assessments to ensure workplace safety and compliance.
Support Safety Management Plans, training, inductions and toolbox meetings.
Investigate incidents, maintain compliance documentation and implement corrective actions.
Review SWMS and monitor compliance with safety standards, legislation and accreditation requirements.
Support audits, stakeholder engagement, heavy vehicle safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a safety-focused professional who can build strong relationships across all levels of the business while maintaining a practical and proactive approach to workplace health and safety.
You will have:
Minimum 3 years' demonstrated experience in a Workplace Health & Safety role.
Certificate IV or Diploma of WHS, or equivalent Workplace Health & Safety qualification.
Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of Workplace Health & Safety and injury management legislation.
Strong experience in hazard identification, risk assessment and implementation of risk controls.
Experience delivering safety training and promoting a positive safety culture.
Knowledge of WHS Management Systems, audits, accreditation requirements and compliance processes.
Current Driver Licence.
Construction Induction Card (White Card).
Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 minimum).
Current CPR Certificate.
Pre-Employment Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to complete:
Pre-Employment Medical Assessment.
Drug and Alcohol Screening.
National Police Check (less than 12 months old).
VicRoads Full Driving History Report.
All required company inductions.
