Deliver vocational education and training within Community Services programs, supporting students to develop the knowledge, practical skills and competencies required for employment and further development within the community services sector.

Reporting to the Education Manager Community Services, this role is responsible for planning, delivering and assessing vocational education and training within Community Services programs across a range of learning environments.
You will apply current Community Services industry knowledge and experience to deliver relevant, contemporary and learner-centred teaching and assessment. You will support diverse learner needs and positive student outcomes while contributing to the ongoing quality and industry relevance of Community Services programs.
Working collaboratively with teaching colleagues, industry and relevant community sector stakeholders, you will contribute to high-quality learning and assessment resources, continuous improvement and positive learner participation, progression and outcomes.

What You'll Do
Plan, prepare, deliver and assess learning activities that meet learner needs and align with approved curriculum, learning plans and assessment requirements
Establish safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments and support learners throughout the learning lifecycle, including student participation, learning plans, reasonable adjustments, consultation and referral to appropriate services
Apply contemporary Community Services industry knowledge and practice to vocational teaching and assessment, supporting relevant, contemporary and learner-centred learning experiences
Develop, maintain and review high-quality curriculum, learning and assessment resources in response to training package requirements, industry needs and learner needs, as appropriate to teaching level
Maintain accurate attendance, assessment and learner progress records and contribute to validation, moderation, quality assurance and compliance activities
Maintain required teaching, educational and vocational/industry currency and participate in professional development and team activities to support effective program delivery
Establish and maintain professional networks with community services organisations, relevant VET bodies and sector stakeholders to support vocational currency, program relevance and positive student outcomes
Work collaboratively within teaching teams and contribute to continuous improvement of course materials, teaching approaches, assessment practices and learner outcomes
Provide learner and teaching team support, mentoring and coordination activities as appropriate to the applicable teaching level
Appropriate vocational competency and/or qualifications relevant to the Community Services programs and units being delivered, together with relevant, recent and current industry knowledge, skills and experience
Demonstrated current vocational knowledge, skills and experience in community development, family violence, case management, crisis intervention and counselling
Demonstrated ability and a strong commitment to teaching Year 11 and Year 12 students within VDSS and VCE VM programs, using a community development framework
Ability to apply contemporary Community Services industry practice to vocational teaching and assessment
Demonstrated learner-centred teaching practice and understanding of adult learning principles, with the ability to support diverse learner needs and positive student outcomes
Ability to plan, organise and deliver high-quality teaching and assessment in diverse learning environments
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with young people and diverse learner cohorts
Ability to plan, prioritise and meet agreed deadlines
Digital capability to support learning delivery, assessment and record-keeping
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships and professional networks with community services organisations and relevant sector stakeholders
Ability to use industry engagement and professional networks to support vocational currency, program relevance and positive student outcomes
Commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement and inclusive practice
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to workplace health and safety, equity and inclusion principles
Experience teaching or assessing in a VET environment
Experience working with diverse learner cohorts
Knowledge of current issues and developments in vocational education and training relevant to Community Services
Qualifications & Mandatory Checks
Appointment to this position is subject to meeting the qualification requirements (where applicable) and the successful completion of all mandatory employment checks.
Teaching Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must meet the qualification requirements under the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Agreement 2024 and relevant regulatory standards.
You will have:
Relevant qualifications in your discipline area
Recent and relevant industry and/or teaching experience
In addition, depending on the role:
Vocational Education and Training (VET) roles:
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent), or a diploma or higher qualification in adult or vocational education
Non-Vocational Education roles (e.g. EAL, AMEP, SEE, Foundation, VCE):
A recognised teaching qualification appropriate to the program (e.g. postgraduate TESOL or equivalent), and demonstrated teaching capability through relevant experience
Applicants who can demonstrate equivalent teaching capability through a combination of qualifications and experience may also be considered.
Mandatory Checks
A valid Victorian Working with Children Check (Employee)
A National Police Check
