About the Role You'll be responsible for leading service delivery, coaching and developing staff, managing complex regulatory matters, driving positive change and helping shape the future direction of Environmental Health within Council.
Working closely with the Manager Community & Environmental Health, you'll play a key role in fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities include:Providing expert advice and guidance on complex environmental health and regulatory mattersPreparing reports, recommendations and briefings to support informed decision-making.Contributing to strategic planning, policy development and budget initiatives that shape the future of the serviceLeading programs, projects and initiatives that meet legal obligations, support Council objectives and promote consistent practice.Drive continuous improvement by reviewing service standards, procedures, systems, work practices and risk-based regulatory approaches.
About YouWe're looking for a leader who communicates effectively, builds strong relationships and collaborates across teams to achieve positive outcomes for the community. You'll lead with confidence, empathy and accountability, fostering a positive team culture through coaching, constructive feedback and a genuine commitment to developing others. Success in this role will require sound judgement, resilience and adaptability, with the ability to navigate complex challenges, influence stakeholders and lead through change. You'll also champion continuous improvement, customer-focused service delivery and the responsible use of resources, while consistently modelling Council's values and behaviours.
What you’ll bring:Relevant qualifications in Environmental Health and eligibility for authorisation under the South Australian Public Health Act.Significant experience leading teams in a regulatory, compliance or environmental health environment.Strong knowledge of environmental health legislation and regulatory practices.

This position is classified at Level 7 with a current salary of $124,098 per annum plus superannuation.
